Arqma Wallet recovery — step by step

Before you start — slow down

Recovery is the moment scammers exploit. Stressed users searching for “help recovering my wallet” end up on phishing sites that walk away with their seeds. Breathe. Use this page. Don’t paste your seed into anything except the official wallet binary you downloaded from our download page.

What you need

• Your 25-word seed phrase, written down from when you created the wallet.
• A clean computer or phone you control.
• A fresh download of the official wallet.
• Roughly 15 minutes plus blockchain sync time.

Step 1 — Install the official wallet on a clean device

Don’t reuse the broken/infected device if you can avoid it. Download Arqma Wallet from our official download page. Verify the checksum against the linked GitHub release if you can. Install it.

Step 2 — Choose “Restore from seed”

On the welcome screen, choose Restore wallet from seed. The wallet will ask for:

• A name for the restored wallet (local only).
• A new password — this protects the local file, not the seed.
• The 25 words in order.
• Optionally, the block height at which the wallet was created (speeds up sync).

Step 3 — Type the seed carefully

Type each word in lowercase. Tab between fields. Re-read everything before clicking restore. If a word isn’t in the official word list, the wallet rejects the seed — that’s a sign of a typo or a misread “w” vs “m”.

Step 4 — Wait for the rescan

The wallet now scans the blockchain for transactions belonging to your view-key. On a remote node this takes minutes; on a local full node it can take hours on a fresh sync. Don’t panic if the balance shows 0 at first — it’s still scanning.

Step 5 — Verify by sending a small test transaction

Once the balance shows, send a small amount to another address you control. A successful send confirms recovery worked. Don’t announce the recovery publicly or share screenshots of the address — keep the new wallet’s privacy clean.

Recovery without a seed phrase

If you still have:

• The wallet file + password: copy the .keys and wallet files to the new device’s wallet directory and open them. Same wallet, no rescan needed for sub-addresses.
• Only the wallet file, no password: there is no recovery. The encryption is real. Stop trying.
• Only the view key: you can read the wallet’s balance but not spend. Useful for auditing, not for moving funds.

If you have nothing

No seed, no file, no password — the funds are unrecoverable. We won’t soften this. There is no backdoor and no “recovery service.” Anyone claiming otherwise is selling false hope or worse. Treat the loss as a lesson, set up the next wallet correctly (backup guide), and move on.

After recovery — clean up

• If the old device was lost or compromised, move funds to a brand-new wallet generated on the clean device.
• Update or replace the paper backup. The old seed is fine — but verify it again from scratch.
• Review who knew where your backup was stored. Refresh storage locations if necessary.
