Why Arqma Wallet feels slow — and how to fix it

First, is it actually slow — or still syncing?

Right after install (or after time away), Arqma Wallet has to catch up with the blockchain. Send/receive will feel frozen, balances may look wrong, and the UI shows a progress indicator at the bottom. That’s normal. Let it finish before debugging anything else.

If sync is done and it’s still slow

Work through these in order. Most slowness is one of the first two.

1. Switch to a faster node

The single biggest factor in perceived speed is the node Arqma Wallet talks to. If the remote node is overloaded or far away, everything feels sluggish — balance updates, send confirmations, address loading.

• Open Settings → Node.
• Try a different remote node (ask in community for the current public one).
• Or run a local node for the fastest, most private experience. See remote node setup.

2. Check disk and RAM

A local node + wallet wants ~30 GB free disk and a couple of GB RAM headroom. If your disk is near full, syncing crawls; if RAM is tight, the UI hitches.

3. Antivirus is scanning every chain write

Windows Defender and third-party AV will repeatedly scan the chain data while it’s being written. That can cut speed in half. Add the Arqma data folder (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Arqma\) to your AV’s exclusion list.

4. Old version

Run the latest Arqma Wallet from the official download page. Older builds may have known performance fixes already shipped upstream.

5. Background processes

Other heavy apps (browsers with hundreds of tabs, video editors, miners) compete for CPU and I/O. Quit what you don’t need.

When everything is slow except sending

If the UI is responsive but sends sit at “0/10 confirmations” for ages, that’s a network/fee issue, not a wallet issue. See transaction troubleshooting.

Last resort: rescan

If the cache is corrupted, the wallet can be unhappy until you rescan. Tools menu → Rescan wallet. This re-reads the chain against your keys. Doesn’t risk your funds — the keys stay put — but takes a while.
