Move Arqma Wallet to a new device

New phone? New laptop? Moving Arqma Wallet across devices is a 15-minute job when you do it in the right order. The order matters.

Arqma Wallet — gold icosahedron vault mark

Before you touch anything

Confirm you have your 25-word seed phrase, written on paper, in your hand. Without it, do not proceed — there’s nothing to migrate to if the seed is lost. See how to back up your wallet if you’re not sure.

Step 1 — On the old device (if it still works)

  1. Open the wallet. Note your wallet’s primary address — you’ll use it to verify the new install.
  2. Confirm your seed phrase still matches what’s on paper. (Settings → Seed & Keys.)
  3. Wait for any pending transactions to confirm before moving on.

If the old device is broken, skip this section and use the paper seed alone.

Step 2 — Install Arqma Wallet on the new device

Download from our official download page. Verify the SHA-256 checksum. Install. Open the app. Do not tap “Restore” yet — first confirm you’re looking at the real wallet (correct icon, correct app name, correct first-launch screen).

Per-OS guides if you need them: Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile.

Step 3 — Restore from seed

  1. Choose Restore wallet from seed on the welcome screen.
  2. Type the 25 words from paper, in order. Don’t paste — type. The autocomplete will help you catch misspellings.
  3. Set a new local password. This is the new device’s password — it doesn’t need to match the old one.
  4. If asked for a restore height, enter a block close to your first deposit to speed up syncing.

Step 4 — Verify the restore is correct

The single most important check: does the address match?

  1. Open the Receive screen on the new device.
  2. Compare the primary address to the one you noted from the old device (or to a transaction on a block explorer).
  3. If they match exactly — your restore worked. If not, you typed the seed wrong; create a new wallet and start over.

Step 5 — Test with a small transaction

Send a small amount from another wallet (or from an exchange) to the new device’s address. Wait for the confirmation. If it arrives, the wallet is fully functional. If it doesn’t, see why is my wallet not syncing?

Step 6 — Securely retire the old device

The wallet now lives on two devices using the same seed. Both can spend the same funds. Decide:

  • Keep both as a backup — fine, but you now have two devices to keep secure.
  • Retire the old one — recommended. Open the wallet on the old device, transfer any remaining balance (if any — the wallets see the same balance, so this is usually skipped), then:
  1. Delete the wallet from the old device’s app (uninstall + clear app data).
  2. On the OS level, securely wipe the wallet file folder (Windows: %APPDATA%\Arqma, macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Arqma, Linux: ~/.arqma).
  3. If you’re passing the device on to someone else, factory-reset it.

Migration checklist

  • Paper seed phrase is on hand and verified against the wallet.
  • New device has the official Arqma Wallet installed and checksum-verified.
  • Restored address matches the original address exactly.
  • Test transaction sent, received, and confirmed.
  • Old device’s wallet data wiped (or device retired entirely).
